TRUSTED FACTORYFLOW
Security, safety and operational continuity.
From access to recovery and records: concrete mechanisms governing factory-system effects.
Assure operations through decision boundaries.
These mechanisms describe the FactoryFlow reference design. Verification follows each factory configuration and use case.
Decision makers need the risk addressed, its boundary and inspectable evidence. This page connects operating risks to mechanisms; IAM, adapter and evidence documentation supplies assessment detail.
Who can act on work and data?
MECHANISM
A valid token does not grant every site. Users, service accounts and adapters have distinct identities/scopes; domain services check tenant/site, objects and entitlement beyond gateway token/scope validation.
SCENARIO AND EVIDENCE
Out-of-site task access is denied; audit retains decisions and correlation without tokens/secrets. Remote support has a purpose, window and revocation.
Can software override field conditions?
MECHANISM
WCS issues scoped execution intent; controllers, interlocks, emergency stops and engineered safety may still block it. Strong authentication cannot make an ineligible physical action safe.
SCENARIO AND EVIDENCE
After maintenance, field-authorized staff confirm permits/LOTO and return-to-service checks. Closing a ticket or changing a dashboard color cannot enable equipment.
Will a retry create another effect?
MECHANISM
Retain source IDs, vendor mapping, idempotency and revisions. Query outcomes before retry after timeout; repeated callbacks need deduplication and ordering checks. UNKNOWN remains distinct from FAILED.
SCENARIO AND EVIDENCE
Tests include lost responses, late callbacks and replay; demonstrate one business posting or an unresolved case, not just a successful response.
Is the change the reviewed revision and authorized?
MECHANISM
Recipes, routes and configurations retain diffs, impact, approvers and deployment targets. Changes after approval invalidate reuse of that decision. Digital signatures apply to records when required.
SCENARIO AND EVIDENCE
Deployment results identify running revisions and target states; rollback assesses data and in-flight work. Not every migration can be undone by swapping files.
Where did work stop, and is its data fresh?
MECHANISM
Correlation connects requests, tasks, executions, missions and equipment. Source timestamps and freshness distinguish stale observations; API logs, callbacks and telemetry have different meanings.
SCENARIO AND EVIDENCE
On source loss retain observation limits and assign investigation. Dashboard disconnection does not prove equipment stopped; outcomes require source/field verification.
Are shared records sourced and authorized?
MECHANISM
Select data by purpose/recipient, apply redaction and retention/hold. Manifests link files/hashes, revisions and references; LTANS and Trusted Delivery participate under configured scope.
SCENARIO AND EVIDENCE
Hashes do not prove physical reality; receipts are not inherently signatures or acceptance. Organization/module certification is separate from factory safety and integration acceptance.
Service scope, data and accountability.
Data processing, support, retention/deletion and termination are governed by applicable documents. Assessment records follow the selected deployment.
