Robot cells connected to production work

Connect jobs, approved recipes, handshakes and quality outcomes in a traceable production journey.

Is the correct program loaded? Does the result belong to the right order?

The bottleneck to resolve

Controller program execution does not establish that a job uses the work-order recipe. When station settings, parameters or materials change, running/done robot states cannot alone accept output. Engineers need the approved revision, start conditions and the QC result belonging to each run.

Assess a cell with identifiable work orders, managed programs/recipes and defined handover signals. Controllers retain motion authority; field design governs safety and teach/reset authority.

Where does the operating flow change?

TYPICAL CURRENT STATE

Disconnected information.

Production orders, controller programs and QC results are separate and manually checked during item or recipe changes.

REFERENCE CONFIGURATION

Explicit confirmation milestones.

Cell jobs bind work orders to recipes and program references. Check readiness before execution and keep program completion separate from quality acceptance.

Follow one demand to its outcome.

Cell engineer · production supervisor · operator · quality/safety owner

WO-070 → JOB-070 → RECIPE-R7 → QC-070
  1. 01

Validate WO-070 and approved recipe R7; compare the controller program under the profile.

  2. 02

Check mode, readiness and handshake before creating JOB-070.

  3. 03

Track job ACK/busy/done and retain native faults if the controller blocks execution.

  4. 04

Bind QC-070 to the job and recipe and return the accepted outcome to the work order.

When work does not follow the expected path.

Each blocker has its own data, authority and resumption conditions.

01

Recipe/program mismatch

Block start and have the cell engineer compare revisions, parameters and impact. Do not silently load a different program for urgent work.

02

Protective stop or interlock

Authorized field staff inspect conditions and recovery procedure. Application permissions do not replace controller reset/teach authority.

03

Program done, QC not accepted

Keep program outcome distinct from quality failure. Quality owns rework/quarantine; do not automatically report accepted production to MES.

Inspect data at each decision milestone.

One illustrated journey, not a customer case or live operating session.

Measure the right problem before scaling.

Measures to agree for the pilot, not promised improvement levels.

01

Job cycle time

Use consistent start/end milestones and recipe types; separate material waiting from program execution.

02

Accepted output

QC-accepted jobs / eligible assessed jobs, with explicit rework treatment.

03

Downtime

Classify program, material, safety and quality stops rather than label all waiting equipment failure.

Initial scope and expansion conditions.

A pilot with explicit outputs

Choose a cell, recipe set and specific controller interface. Test program mismatch, missing signals, duplicate jobs and failed QC. Accept the work-order/job/recipe/QC linkage alongside field safety procedures.

Conditional expansion

Replicate only with cell-specific profiles, run authority and QC criteria. Reassess compatibility and tests after firmware or recipe changes; no universal controller profile.
